Jacob John Harmer is an award-winning writer and director, who uses film and photography to explore themes including - beauty, land and legacy.

Jake was born and raised in the provincial town of Hastings, England, before relocating to study film at the London College of Communication. Today he works internationally, where his voice-over driven, vérité style, has led to commissions from Adidas, Barclaycard, Burberry, British Vogue, Colgate, HSBC, Hugo Boss, Massimo Dutti, Microsoft, Matches, Nike, Vivienne Westwood and Zara—often facilitated under the Studio JJH umbrella, which offers full creative and post-production services.

His editorial collaborations include I.D-Vice, and Nowness, who have premiered several of his personal projects - most recently his journey to the wild savannahs of Namibia, West Africa, to capture the spiritual traditions of the ancient San tribe in his doco-drama Ju|’Hoansi.

At the International Photography Awards in 2020, he placed 3rd in the category of Analogue Landscape for his image Brother. In 2021 he released his debut photobook and short drama Lost Ones. The film has been screened at prestigious festivals globally and has received multiple awards - including winning Best Film at Brighton Rocks 2021.

Jake is currently in post-production on a feature project entitled Lightning Flowers, focusing on script development, and the continuation of his Lost Ones chronology.
